The goal of the Northwest Austin Civic Association is to create a safe and fun event for everyone who participates in the parade…entries and spectators alike. Please help make our Parade safe for everyone.

NO THROWING CANDY OR GIFTS FROM VEHICLES !!! Candy and gifts may ONLY be distributed by walkers. Please do NOT hurl candy projectiles into the crowd. NO THROWING candy from vehicles-this could endanger children who might run into the street with the vehicles and floats.

NO WALKING ALONGSIDE / NEAR VEHICLES / FLOATS-

Silly String or Water (Super Soakers, etc.) - Another DANGEROUS practice. Please refrain from this dangerous practice.

Bike or Mobile Vehicle Riders - Please remember to wear your helmet if you are under the age of 18. We recommend wearing helmets on all open vehicles for those of age 18 and over.

Driver’s Licenses & Liability Insurance - All drivers of vehicles need to make sure they possess a valid driver's license and required State of Texas Liability Insurance.

Please do not stand or sit on top of floats or lean out of your vehicle.

Noise - No firearms, similar types of noise makers, sirens, horns or fireworks allowed.

Animals - Horses or other animals not riding in or on a vehicle need to have their “clean up person” with them as we want to leave the streets clean.

NWACA, NWACA Board of Directors, Officers, Members, Fourth of July Committee, collectively and individually, are not responsible for the safety of those participating in, or attending the parade. Parents – Please keep an eye on your children. Entry in the parade is at your own risk, and all due care must be exercised. Participants that the NWACA Parade Committee Representatives deems inappropriate, or unsafe are subject to ejection from the parade.

NWACA, Board of Directors, Officers, Members, Fourth of July Committee, collectively and individually, disclaims any responsibility for accidents that may occur on July 4th in the staging area while the parade is being lined up, in the parade line of march, and at Doss during Committee-sponsored activities.

DJCC PowerPoint While the personal services use allows dry cleaning, a hair salon, therapeutic massage, the leadership at the J has now advised us they are contemplating a) a café, b) Judaic gift shop, c) tennis pro shop and d) therapeutic massage service. Unless Council prohibits the dry cleaning, hair salon etc, they would be allowed to add them in the future, if they so decided.

Council candidates regarding their positions
on our neighborhood’s concerns, such as:

 poor budget management
 high taxes
 up zoning without traffic improvements
 VMU (vertical mixed use zoning)
 maintenance and capacity of roads
 neighborhood planning process
 fire safety
 sidewalks
 panhandlers
 deer
 oak wilt

NWACA is currently looking for volunteers to help with this year's 4th of July Parade. Please let us know if you would be available to help with this very popular neighborhood event. The DJCC has invited the Neighborhood to their pool after the Parade

If you want to hand out candy or gifts please have someone with your group walk alongside the crowd and HAND it to them. Children running into the street is really dangerous and we want to protect our children.
